I was further informed by Dr Doberck that all I would require for carrying on correspondence with Government departments was the current number of his latest letter, with which he supplied me, from which I inferred, perhaps somewhat hastily, that he had left his correspondence in such form that there would be no occasion to refer to what had previously passed between the Government and the Director of the Observatory.
